Welcome to MundieSource.Net!

This website is dedicated to bringing you the best and most up to date information on Cassandra Clare's trilogy, The Mortal Instruments. By navigating through our website, you will find news, reviews, character information, and fan-made media!

June 24, 2009

Contest! You can win a signed copy of CoG, CoB, or an autographed poster on Friday HERE. Good luck!

No new news on the movie, but everyone still seems very excited and extremely positive. I'm still keeping an eye out and I'll post anything I find!

June 21, 2009

The general consensus seems to be "OMG YES, TMI MOVIE!" I've received about ten e-mails and fifteen Tweets. Keep 'em coming! Ashley@mundiesource.net or @miss_ashleyc.

I've been searching around to see if I could find anything on a possible TMI movie and I found this article about former executives from New Line and the projects they have lined up. The Mortal Instruments is among them. It says:

The Mortal Instruments, based on a best-selling young-adult fantasy trilogy by Cassandra Clare, about a young girl who inherited an ability to see and interact with a clan of supernatural spirits.

The second article I found is from ReelzChannel.com. It says:

The Mortal Instruments, a young adult trilogy of books penned by former Harry Potter fan-fic writer Cassandra Clare, is rumored to be the next book-to-movie adaptation slated to hit Hollywood.

From these two articles, it would appear that the trilogy would be put into one film. But who knows? Since nothing has been confirmed by Cassandra Clare or any of the other parties involved, it can still be considered mass speculation until someone else gives us some news! But chins up, everyone! We may see our beloved books on screen!

June 19, 2009

...News? Maybe? OKAY! SO! I haven't been here much. Honestly, I'm so angry at the fan art section for NOT COMPLYING WITH ME that it really brought me down and made me want to throw MundieSource against a wall. But I won't! Because I love it and TMI and Cassie Clare!

Speaking of Cassie Clare, I found this today. It is a COMING SOON announcement on ComingSoon.net stating that there will be a Mortal Instruments movie by Warner Bros. Pictures! You may recall the WB... They're they powerhouse behind a little film franchise called "Harry Potter." Now, I don't know about YOU, but if TMI were to fall into THEIR HANDS, I'd feel pretty safe. Not that anything has been confirmed.

I Twittered the lovely Cassandra Clare with the link to my findings and this was her response:

cassieclare @miss_ashleyc *whistles*

When I freaked out in excitement that she didn't immediately deny my crazy link, I said I was going to have to alert everyone via... here... and she said:

cassieclare I have said all I can say!

So what do YOU have to say? What do YOU think of a potential Mortal Instruments movie? I'm curious. You can e-mail ashley@mundiesource.net with your opinion on anything of the sort or (if it's a short "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" of excitement/terror, you can Twitter me @miss_ashleyc.

Also in today's news, Holly Black posted a link to this article about BEA. It talks about a panel on Alternate Histories in Young Adult fiction with CC (Infernal Devices!), Scott Westerfeld, and Holly Black. Check it out!

ALSO! If you haven't seen my parody of the lives of several of our favorite YA authors, check it out! It was for Maureen Johnson's Scarlett Fever Copy #1 contest. Fun times. Cassie, Scott, Maureen, and both Green brothers are included in the parody.

There may be a layout change soon to come with BIG UPDATES! (I'm really not lying this time!) Be on the lookout!

June 3, 2009

Signing! Cassie will be doing a signing for Vacations from Hell at Books of Wonder in New York City. It's next Tuesday, June 9th, from 6 to 8 PM. Also in attendance will be Libba Bray, Claudia Gray, Maureen Johnson, and Sarah Mlynowski. Books of Wonder is located at 18 West 18th Street and they require that you buy at least one book to be signed, but you can also bring books from home. If you can't make it, you can order a signed copy from the store.

Edit: NEWS! City of Ashes is one of YALSA's Teens' Top Ten! Go check out the others in the top ten, including Paper Towns by John Green and Wake by Lisa McMann. Congrats to CC!

May 28, 2009

Fail. Icons, fan video submissions, and a few links will be up tomorrow, since my internet is being super slow right now due to a downloading file and streaming video, but I promise they'll go up!

But TODAY there is an event being streamed on BlogTV (from 4 to 6 PM EST) that Cassie will be participating in, as well as Maureen Johnson, David Levithan, Robin Wasserman, and many, many more! You can go to the BlogTV channel to watch and chat. Come one, come all!

May 21, 2009

Has it really been a month and a day since I last updated? *Smacks self* Bad Ashley! Bad, bad! Sorry about that! I've been immensely sick for the past two weeks and on top of that, I've been studying like crazy for finals and all that jazz. End of the school year and whatnot. Fun times. But you don't come here for my life story! If you wanted to know about me, you'd be following me on Twitter!

So what news do I have for you on this fine day? Well, big news in Shadowhunter World! The Infernal Devices website is up and running! And there is an excerpt from chapter seven and everything! It's amazingly exciting! Go check it out right now!

I don't have time to do the other updates I was going to do today right now (it's almost two in the morning), but I'll be back in the actual morning (probably closer to the afternoon) with a bunch of icons, some websites, and a few other things I need to touch up.

As for the fan art section, don't give up hope yet! My friend who should be able to get that part up and running has been around a lot lately, I just haven't had a chance to ask him to get it up and going because.. well... as mentioned above, my focuses have been elsewhere. TTFN!

April 20, 2009

Cassie posted a new LJ entry today. She explains this better than I can, but I'll try to summarize. There is currently an AUCTION going on in which you can win the opportunity to have a minor character in The Infernal Devices named after you. Yes, really. It's amazing. Proceeds go to Project Book Babe, to support Faith Hochhalter, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Other items up for auction can be found here. Don't hesitate to bid! Remember, it's for a good cause!

April 11, 2009

I have fallen behind in my stalking of CC's LiveJournal. She somehow managed to post two entries without me knowing in the past week. Well... One was today, so I guess I'm not too far behind.

The one from today is all about her upcoming signings and readings. One is in NYC on April 15th at the KGB Bar with Marie Rutoski. She'll be reading something "as-yet-unreleased." There are two signings in Canada (one in Vancouver and one in Toronto) on April 24th and 26th, respectively. She'll be with Holly Black. Check the entry for details. The Vancouver signing is TICKETED so you MUST get tickets in advance.

And then there's the mass (SPOILERY) Q&A post that she promised in which she answers the most-asked questions about Glass. My favorite answer is #2.

April 10, 2009

I haven't been on the Google Group all that much because it was exploding and I couldn't keep up with it, so I decided to give it a chance to calm down a little bit. Because I wasn't there too much, I missed this (SPOILERY) interview from YAreads.com with Cassie about Glass and TMI in general. Check it out.

Also, Cassie just linked to a spoiler-free Australian article on Facebook. It mentions TMI among several other fantasy books that are among ranks with Twilight and Potter now that those two series are complete.

April 6, 2009

Yeah! That's Cassandra Clare! Yeah! That's me! Yeah! The signing was pretty awesome! If you were there, you saw the awesome Robot Shoes (they were pretty shiny and looked ready to kick some serious butt!) and you're now well aware (if you weren't before) that Simon is a very, very "sexy Jewish vampire," to quote the fan who called that out. Hooray, Team Simon!

If you're interested in reading my recap of the event (including pictures and my Vlog entry for Maureen Johnson's BEDA) you can click here.

April 5, 2009

New York book signing today! I'll be there (I'm super excited, if you can't tell!), so if you're going to be there, too, you should totally look for me and say "hi!" I'll probably be wearing a black jacket with Greek letters on the back (they're pink with with polka-dots on them) or, if I've taken the jacket off by then, a brown t-shirt with the same letters in blue with white polka-dots (if you've ever seen my vlog, you know I'm obsessed with polka-dots). I can't wait to finally get my hands on a hard-copy of Glass!

Hope to see you there!

April 3, 2009

The promised (SPOILERY) interview was posted over at the Reader's Quill. They've also announced the contest winners! So congratulations to all who won ^_^

I updated the fanfic page with four new ones. Each has spoilers from different books, oddly enough. One is CoB spoilery, two are CoA, and one is CoG. All are represented! Totally wasn't planned like that. The first three are: Enemies (S/M, G, CoA), and Jealousy (C/J, S/M, G, CoA) by twilight22lover. The fourth is SPOILERY and is Marked (A/MB, PG, CoG) by JustAdoreHer.

Three days until the New York signing! Yay!

March 31, 2009

I think I'm losing my mind! I could've sworn I linked to this the other day, but I guess I didn't save the page! *Hits self*

The Reader's Quill is having a CoG contest where you can win a t-shirt by submitting your name or becoming a fan of their Facebook page. It kind of ends today, so I feel really bad because I didn't post it until today (I swear I posted it last week! *facepalm*). Also, they will be posting an exclusive interview with CC sometime this week, so check back for that.

In other news, there is a new TMI RPG that has kindly asked that I link to them. They've used some of the write-ups I did on characters/creatures/places/etc. and were kind enough to link back to me. It looks like it'll be fun, so if you're into things like that, you should totally check it out!

March 24, 2009

HAPPY CITY OF GLASS DAY!

I hope you all get your shiny, new, amazingly awesome copies and devour them like I did. I'm getting mine at the New York signing on April 5th (fun times!). And I hope that everyone who is going to (or went to, depending on what time you read this!) the event in PA has a ton of fun!

So enjoy! I hope that having the new book inspires fun things (fanart section = coming soon...). Go read!

Edit: Glass is a Borders Shortlist Pick with a little write up about the book's release, including a book trailer, the cover, and the quote from Stephenie Meyer. Also from Borders, you can read the original version of the first chapter, along with notes from CC on why things changed in the final version.

Happy reading! I know a few people have already finished and have expressed their euphoric love of the book, so I hope everyone who is currently reading is feeling the same way!

March 21, 2009

So close! So very, very close!

Several fun things to update with today, though I'm not sure if any of it is new to anyone. If it is, FANTASTIC! If not... well... I'm sorry for being horrible.

First! Cassie posted a new LJ entry with two dates and locations for signings she'll be doing with Holly Black (Vancouver and Toronto, April 24th and 26th, respectively). She also said that the postcards have been send out for the Glass release tour, so look out for those to be arriving in your mailbox if you requested one! Also in this entry, she mentions that she's purchased "approximately 15 polka-dot dresses from Stop Staring." Who doesn't love polka-dots?

Second! In other CC-related news, some of you may know that she was part of the YA Author Castle (which Twittered for a week via TeamCastle. She was with several other authors, including Holly Black, Robin Wasserman, and Maureen Johnson, and they spent a week in Springfield Castle in Ireland. Apparently some exciting things happened... A kitten was found, peacocks were chased, Maureen Johnson finished the sequel to Suite Scarlett, etc. You can see photos from the adventure on Ally Carter's (author of the Gallagher Girls series) blog: Part One and Part Two.

You can read accounts of the adventures in the castle at Sarah Rees Brennan's LJ: Part One and Part Two. You can also begin Maureen Johnson's, but hers leaves off with a cliffhanger: The Peacock Diaries.

I know that this update hasn't exactly been TMI related, but it's very Cassie-centric, and without CC, we wouldn't have TMI... Plus, I was highly entertained by TeamCastle's Twitter updates and was very interested in all the stories, so I thought maybe some of you would be, too!

SOON!

March 17, 2009

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! Yay!

There was a blip in the site today for a few hours... I don't know what caused it. There may have been some kind of mass server problem or whatever. Sorry. But everything is back now! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then good!

One more week!

March 8, 2009

Interview! Check it out! It's pretty fantastic. Makes you realize that there are only, like two more weeks!!!! until Glass. So exciting!

I keep forgetting to ask my web-inclined friend to help me with the fan art stuff. I'm going to put a sticky note on my desktop right now so that I remember, since I think that's the only thing I really, really, really need to do and haven't done yet. Aside from finishing character bios, etc. I guess I can start updating those with Glass info in Word files so that I can update them after the book is released. Excitement galore!

In the meantime, my life is filled with midterms and short story assignments that are running me into the ground. Not quite so fantastic.

March 2, 2009

So close!

So, there is an extremely, extremely mini cookie over at CC's MySpace.

There's also a new fansite, Mundie Moms for fans who are 21+ to discuss the books, etc. There is a forum, Facebook group, and MySpace. Check it out!

Only a few more weeks until the book comes out!

Edit: Sorry for the incredible exploding HTML that has been up for the past few hours. I updated, forgot to close a bracket, and then left to go watch 24 with some friends. Oops!

February 26, 2009

*Smacks self* Bad, Ashley! Bad!

I'm sorry I've been a slacker. I am. I've got all of the images that everyone sent me all organized and pretty... I just can't get them to work the way I want them to and I can't come up with a different way. And the person I would usually ask for assistance in this matter hasn't been online in two weeks. So it's kind of like I'm being punished for procrastinating. He was always around when I wasn't really working on it all, and then I did, and suddenly he's M.I.A! Unfair.

In other news, CC has posted the promised LJ entry with the tour info, including the post card fun so that if you're planning on going to an event, you can receive, quote, "something fun."

February 19, 2009

*Groan* Still sick. Blahhhh. My life.

Quick update to let anyone who isn't LJ friends with CC know that she updated her LJ with information on the NYC Teen Author Festival (which apparently is going to be pretty fantastic), news about the Spanish translation of CoB (which actually has the cover image of CoA, how neat!), an interview (en Espaņol!) about the release, and her upcoming made-of-awesome trip to Ireland (which, if you follow Maureen Johnson on Twitter, is apparently going to be pretty sweet).

She also says that she will has tour dates to post soon. Quote: "Like next week soon." Yay!

February 9, 2009

My head problems may all be solved today. Fingers crossed, please? ^_^ I'd like to be healthy again so that I can focus on life rather than being sick.

I'm updating to say that Cassie and TMI were mentioned in this article. It's called "After 'Twilight'" and, in a fashion similar to trying to console Potter fans after DH came out, recommends books to make life easier while waiting for the New Moon film to be released. The Mortal Instruments are the first books mentioned on the list, but there are several others that sound fabulous (though I haven't gotten around to any yet). Check it out!

February 2, 2009

This update is brought to you in four parts:

Part the First: FEBRUARY COOKIES! They're delicious. Check 'em out! CC says there may be a "tiny, tiny" cookie in March but it won't be anything significant because THAT'S WHEN THE BOOK COMES OUT! So this is very exciting. Have you Pre-Ordered your copy yet?

Part the Second: New CoG Review! This one comes to you from the Ravenous Reader and, like the rest, is glowing.

Part the Third: I have a doctor's appointment next Monday! Hurrah! Hopefully all my headache business will be sorted out very soon and I can go back to focusing over here ^.^

Part the Fourth: I added a new quote because it's in the cookies from this month and I'm very fond of it. If you don't read the cookies, you'll have no idea what's going on, so it won't spoil you at all except for the fact that you'll recognize the line when you come across it in the book. Have a lovely day! ^.^

January 30, 2009

Hi, I'm still alive!

I've been sick. Not like cough, cough sick but I can't move my head without Teh Pain sick. I can't really focus on anything at all so I've been putting off working on anything over here. I just wanted to update really quick to let everyone know of two things (aside from the fact that I haven't died, no matter how much like walking death I may feel):

I found out from Marcy that there are Reader's Choice Awards going on over at Urban Fantasy Land. CC/TMI are nominated, so you should scoot on over there and vote!

Also, there is to be a signing in Houston, Texas on March 31st at 6:30PM at Murder by the Book. The address is 2342 Bissonnet Street, Houston, TX 77005. On the website (info about CC is toward the bottom, under the date of the signing), they have an e-mail address you can drop a note to if you can't make it but would like to get a signed copy of the book.

I have to lay down again now before I fall over. Oy. Hopefully this will be done with soon... *Sigh*

January 20, 2009

I'm back at school! Yay? >.<

So I had planned to put up all the fan art over the weekend (I've calculated 21 pieces of art, 8 wallpapers, and 5 icons), but I'm also the webmistress of my sorority's website, and since recruitment starts this week, my responsibility over there trumped TMI. (Sorry!) So the fan art will be up this week, in theory, as long as I'm not eaten by any of my classes.

Right then! That is the plan, and it is now in writing (...text, anyway). If I don't put it all up, please glare at me threateningly, because I'm a bad webmistress and have been sorely neglecting the site in favor of other frivolous activity (like schoolwork). In other news, I got a fish! His name is Magnus and he is fabulous, as is his little tank, which probably falls under the category of "frivolous activity."

January 15, 2009

I totally suck at dates these days... I had yesterday's update listed as the 15th. I was in the future!

Really, though... Update: Marcy has finished reading Glass and has posted a spoiler-free review that I recommend to everyone. She enjoyed it just as much as I did, which really tells you you're in for a treat with this book!

I'm also updating the fanfiction page with a bunch of things, so check that out. Still working on the fanart section ^.^ It'll be up this weekend.

January 14, 2009

The lovely Ms. Clare posted a LJ entry with a few updates. She put up a sneak peek of the UK/Ireland cover of City of Glass. It's pretty cool looking.. I'm a fan of the colors.

There's also news about the release of CoG! In Australia and New Zealand, it will come out on March 24th, the same day as the American release, and it will come out on July 6th in the UK and Ireland.

She also says that for the book tour, she'll be going to San Diego, LA, Houston, Ohio, New York, Toronto, and Vancouver. Only 68 more days!

January 13, 2009

Last night in all my excitement, I set the world back nine years and had the year on the update set at 2000. Smooth, Ash, realllll smooth.

I finished it! It was amazing and I have written a spoiler free review over at my LiveJournal. Check it out if you're interested ^.^ I promise it's spoiler free to the max--Cassandra Clare has given it her stamp of approval for cleanliness! I'm off to a rehearsal now, but when I return, I'll get on the fanart that still desperately needs to go up.

Edit: It was just brought to my attention that there are fanfiction awards taking place over in a forum on FF.net. You can nominate your favorite authors and stories. Check it out! TMI can always use more fanfiction recs and stuff ^.^

January 12, 2009

I think it's technically January 13th, but oh well.

It's been a few days since I updated because I've been slightly sick. But life is lovely because my ARC came today and I have happily (and painfully, since I don't have glasses and reading gives me a massive headache) digested 337 pages since 8:30pm (it's 12:40) when I noticed that the package had been placed on my bed without anyone feeling the need to tell me.

I was very upset to realize that I had wasted time doing things like eating dinner and watching Jeopardy when I could have been reading.

I'll be finished by tomorrow and will have a non-spoilery review (which I'm told I'm allowed to do, I just can't post spoilers). I'm also hoping to get the thumbnails for the fan art made (finally, right?) and getting that up on the site. Toodles!

PS: I know a few of the other winners got their ARCs today. I hope you're enjoying it immensely!

January 8, 2009

No one told me that I put the last update in as "January 5, 2008" ^_~ Thanks, all.

I wanted to remind everyone that tonight is the Urban Fantasy Podcast that Cassandra Clare will be part of. It is at 6 PM EST and you can call (347) 826-9684 to listen on your phone and ask questions live. There will be 20 minutes of moderated discussion and then the lines will be open for questions. Other involved authors are Melissa Marr (Wicked Lovely), Janni Lee Simner (Bones of Faerie), Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Golden), Carrie Jones (Need) and Sarah Rees Brennan (The Demon's Lexicon).

I also put up one new fanfic and two updates (the final updates) to "When You Say Forever." The fan art that I've been getting will go up soon. I have to make thumbnails for all of them and I've had a perpetual tension headache for the past five (oh goodness, I think it might be six now) days and I just don't have the patience. Soon, though! As soon as I no longer feel like my head is going to pop.

January 5, 2009

Happy New Year!

I'm so busy... Sheesh. But I wanted to post a quick update to say that the January cookies (there are three!) are up. Check them out!

More soon! To those who have sent in submissions, thank you! I have received a bunch of them, I just don't have time to put them up. Soon, I promise!

December 31, 2008

Happy New Year's Eve ^.^! I just put up 32 new icons, a new fanfic and two chapter updates for another, and a fan video. I've gotten some fan art and I am in the process of making thumbnails, so that will be up sometime later today. Bring on the submissions, everyone! Again, the e-mail is Submissions@MundieSource.Net and I'll take anything you want to send in ^.^

December 29, 2008

For anyone who wasn't stalking CC's LiveJournal all day today, you may not know that LJ decided to CRASH for about an hour (or two or three, I'm not quite sure how long) and that severely delayed the posting of the results for the ARC Contest.

During this time, I started to go crazy. But alas! The results have been posted! There were so many entries that CC ended up requesting four more ARCs, so now first and second place winners will receive a copy of the book! Winners included BiBi's Cards, The Lightwood Llama Song by MarcyJo and Ali_Catz, and MandaJT's Spaghetti Bath.

AND MUNDIESOURCE, TOO, GUYS! I WON! DEAR GOD! I'm so excited I went bouncing around the house (despite my horrible, horrible headache that has had me in bed for most of the day) and my mom looked at me like I was crazy. Then I almost fell over from the pain in my head and she was like "Ah, nevermind, I thought you were better." Nope.

If you've never been here before and you found MS.Net because of the contest, I encourage you to submit things! This is a fansite and without the fans, I'm all alone here! I accept wallpapers, icons, banners, fan art, photos, etc. and will host them for you! If you have fan fiction, fan videos, or fan mixes, I take those, too, you just have to host them yourself (though this is usually the case). You can submit these things by e-mailing them to Submissions@MundieSource.Net with the type of submission in the subject line ^.^

YAYSIES! And now I can go to sleep.

LOVE AND FIVES TO ALL! And THANK YOU, CASSANDRA CLARE!

December 28, 2008

CC updated her LiveJournal thanking everyone for their entries to the ARC Contest. She says there were twice as many entries as last year (oooh boy) and that she is judging the last category and then will post the winners.

Also in the update was information about an Urban Fantasy Podcast that Cassandra Clare will be part of. According to the site, it will be on January 8, 2009 at 6 PM (EST). It will last an hour and you can call (347) 826-9684 to listen on your phone and ask questions live. Other involved authors are Melissa Marr (Wicked Lovely), Janni Lee Simner (Bones of Faerie), Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Golden), Carrie Jones (Need) and Sarah Rees Brennan (The Demon's Lexicon).

Edit: I just added 6 new wallpapers. I also wanted to remind everyone again that it would be fabulous if you were to submit (Submissions@MundieSource.net) artwork, videos, etc. from the ARC contest (or anything else you've done!). Toodles!

ARC Contest Status as of 6:38 PM EST: Still not judged.
ARC Contest Status as of 9 PM EST: Judged. CC says the LJ entry with the list of winners will be posted tomorrow. ^.^ Good luck to all who entered!

December 26, 2008

The ARC Contest is officially over. I'm pretty sure there were a ton of entries; more than 800 comments on that LJ entry! I believe that Cassandra Clare is going to take some time to judge and then she's going to post an entry with the winners in a few days. Last year, it took four, but I think there were a few less entries, so it may or may not take longer. Though none of us would complain if it takes less.

I got City of Bones back from my friend and intend to continue with my quest to get every bit of information out of it. Look for that soon. I added a few new links because I received a few author recommendations (if you have one, Submissions@MundieSource.Net is your pal) and put those up. More soon!

Happy weekending!

December 25, 2008

Down to the wire! Only 40 minutes left until the end of the City of Glass ARC Contest! (I'm not being pushy, I'm just giving a few friendly reminders ^_~)

No big updates today (it's Christmas!), but I did put up a few links to fansites and communities. Some of the communities aren't all that active, so hopefully some of you can go over and change that ^_^

I hope everyone had a good holiday!

December 24, 2008

The City of Glass ARC Contest ends in less than 14 hours. Make sure you get any and all entries in before then!

While on the subject of the ARC Contest: I know a ton of art and fanmixes and awesomely cool things have been made for this contest. I'd like to take a moment to encourage everyone to submit their fun things to Mundie Source in order to help everything grow. I'm pretty sure that submitting here will not have any bearing on your chances of winning an ARC (or super awesome chapter one of The Clockwork Princess)... Mainly since several entries are already posted on here in various places.

SO! In the spirit of Christmas (or whichever holiday you choose to celebrate), I ask that you submit away anything your heart desires! (Seriously. Submissions@MundieSource.Net is your new friend).

And Merry Christmas! We are now less than 90 days until City of Glass! Huzzah!

December 23, 2008

Just a friendly reminder to everyone that the City of Glass ARC Contest ends on Thursday (Christmas) so get your entries in soon!

On another note, I loaned out my books again, so I'm sorely lacking in the update department because I don't have all the information from the books memorized. I'm supposed to get them back on Friday, so fingers are crossed that there will be updates Friday afternoon/night.

Happy holidays! (Again!)

December 21, 2008

It has been the longest week ever, but I have updates! First up, I finished my video entry for CC's contest. It's called "A Shadowhunter's Twelve Days of Christmas" and you can check it out on my LiveJournal over here. I link you there instead of YouTube because my LJ has the lyrics and explanations and stuff. It's me (on the left) and one of my roommates from college. We had way too much fun with it (see bloopers for proof).

I also have a new wallpaper from Ari, which I've posted in wallpapers, obviously. I wish I had time to do more, but the holidays are pretty busy.

At an ungodly hour the other day, I wrote another series of drabbles. Numbers 5 and 8 are Magnus/Alec. Others mixed in are original characters and fandom pairings.

If I don't update before then, have a happy holiday, whichever you celebrate!

Edit: Cassandra Clare just posted a review of CoG on the Google Group. You can read the review here. It doesn't give away anything big about the novel that hasn't already been discussed in some way or another. It's very positive!

December 14, 2008 - Happy birthday to me!

Yeah, so... It's almost 4AM on my birthday and so far it's been pretty fabulous. I've pretty much been glued to my computer for messages from friends and stuff and just from sitting here I've gotten some pretty awesome things. A wallpaper based on a novel I'm working on that will inspire me when I'm feeling ready to kill off my characters in untimely situations (can you say "And then they all died in a horrific accident as pianos and six ice cream trucks fell from the sky! THE END!"), a paid LJ account (much love), and the cast recording to "Songs For A New World," which was gifted to me via iTunes.

But you're not here for that, are you? ^_~

I didn't get as much done as I wanted to yesterday because I was studying for finals and writing a lot. I did, however, put up a bunch of new links to authors and other fansites that you should all check out. The fansites are mostly Facebook or MySpace groups, but they're worth visiting even if you don't have one ^.^

December 13, 2008

My birthday is tomorrow. I feel old. People keep asking me if my younger sister is my baby >.<

And: ONE HUNDRED DAYS UNTIL CITY OF GLASS! Yay!

Hoping to finish yoinking quotes from CoB today and possibly starting on CoA. If I finish CoB and you think I missed something, feel free to e-mail me and yell at me for it. Just include the quote you want featured in there and then I'll check it out. Please include page numbers ^.^

I added several new fanfics and also added descriptions to the ones that were already up. I've also added a new section, though right now it only has one bit, but hopefully people will get submitting and there will be more fan videos soon! Get to it ^_~.

Also added a new fan mix, which you can find here. It's a Magnus/Alec with slight angst up until the last track, which is there for the lol-factor. Art coming for that one soon, though I did at art to my other mix, the Clary/Jace one.

Right. Lots to do today! (After I go to bed and wake up, of course) Toodles!

December 12, 2008

Today must be a popular day. I added a new fanfic, by me. It's a series of drabbles. There are nine in total, but only four are TMI. All are PG-13 or less and contain spoilers.

I also just added three gorgeous new wallpapers by Ari. They're pretty awesome, so check those out! I've also got another fanmix to put up sometime today, but I have to run for now. Maybe I'll wait until after midnight so I stop spamming myself here ^.^

December 12, 2008

Again. But I wrote so much before that I felt like I should do a new one rather than just adding. So apparently all I had to do was ask, because I got a lovely new fanmix submission, so go over there and check it out. Magnus/Alec! Yaysies!

As most of you know, CC has the ARC contest going on right now. One of the video entries is pretty fabulous and is making all the fandom over at CC's journal crack up immensely, so I asked the lovely MarcyJo to let me post it on here and she said yes. It was a joint effort between herself and Ali_Catz and it is pure awesomness (< That should really be a word). If you agree and would like to download the MP3 of the Lightwood Llama Song, you can download it here.

December 12, 2008

Random fact: My birthday is in two days. ^.^ You can just tuck that in with the things you don't need to worry about and I'll get on with the update! So! No one has submitted FanMixes... This is a sad, sad thing because I know that there are lots of songs out there and lots of people that listen to them.

So I made one to start off that section and hopefully inspire people. Check it out over in that section or just click here to go straight to it. It's a Clary/Jace-centric fanmix and my choice descriptions are spoilery, so if you've been living in a cave and haven't read CoA, well... Go do that instead of listening to the mix ^.^

If you feel inspired after listening to it or you decide that yours doesn't suck as bad as mine, please submit your own! Just plop it up on LiveJournal or your own personal website and then send a link to it to Submissions@MundieSource.Net and it'll be on its way to being on the site! It's that easy!

Seriously. Mine is lonely and sad in there by itself. Lordy, I need to go to bed.

December 10, 2008

New fanfic! It's called "Fluffy." It's PG-13 and Alec/Magnus with a Christmas theme. Check it out. I'm also going to be putting up a few fanmixes, so be on the lookout for those! The fan art isn't up yet because I haven't had time to make thumbnails for them... I had it all set up and pretty, but my FTP still isn't cooperating, so I can't use what I did. Boo, hiss.

Also! Cassandra Clare posted the final cover of City of Glass on MySpace the other day. It has a quote from Stephenie Meyer (like the other books had quotes from Libba Bray and Holly Black). Seen here, it says "The Mortal Instruments series is a story world that I would love to live in. Beautiful!" - Stephenie Meyer, Author of Twilight. If you're not on MySpace and can't get to it, I'll upload it later and change the link. I just thought about it as I was getting ready to leave. Toodles!

Edit: As promised, here is the final version of the cover for CoG for those of you who can't may not be able to get to it on MySpace. I've also put up quotes from the next hundred pages of CoB, since I needed a break from studying for my finals. ^.^

December 9, 2008

I updated a few character descriptions, some creatures, and I'm planning to do a few more characters, objects, and terms before I go to bed tonight. Cheers to that!

On another note, Cassandra Clare posted a blog on her MySpace with a bunch of writing tips. Check it out! It's pretty informative for anyone who is interested in writing or being published or just seeing what goes through her head.

December 7, 2008

Just updated with five wallpapers I've had for a while. I've been trying to come up with a better way to put up the graphics (and I did, but FTP isn't working. O! the drama), so I hesitated. But I put them up anyway because that bit was looking rather bare. They're pretty awesome so check 'em out!

On another note, I went online today on the other computer (eesh) and found that this site looks rather different on there. Much darker, etc. Some things even weren't in proper lines! It almost caused my physical pain. But since I rarely use anything other than a Mac, I had no idea that it looked like that. So I'll get on it right away and make things as pretty as they are on my computer ^.^ Because they are rather pretty when you see it all aligned and stuff.

Right then. Back I go to working on my entries for Teh Contest. ^.^ Have a fabulous Sunday!

December 3, 2008

Fun news! There's going to be a signing on February 25, 2009 in Westport, Connecticut. Cassandra Clare will be with Libba Bray, Maureen Johnson, and Robin Wasserman. Check here for more info! Edit 12/6/2008: There's a Facebook event now, too!

December 1, 2008

Happy December! I've been busy with NaNoWriMo for the past week (I won!), but there hasn't really been that much news. However, today I bring you news of the ARC Contest for City of Glass! CC has posted about it on her LiveJournal. The contest begins today and there are four chances to win a signed advance copy of CoG. The second place prize for each category is a signed copy of the first chapter of The Infernal Devices, The Clockwork Princess! It'll be super fun, so check it out!

November 22, 2008

I just updated theAbout TMI page with playlists and stuff, along with the description of CoG from Cassandra Clare's MySpace. Oh! And check out the back of the shirt I wore to the Twilight movie here. I was very happy with it and a bunch of people asked if they could take pictures, so there are random pictures of me floating around out there. I'm looking forward to making a shirt for CoG! ^.^

November 20, 2008

I guess since I haven't gone to sleep yet, it's only November 20th by technicality. To me, it's still the 19th. But whatever. Fun news to share and I'm too impatient to wait until I wake up in eight hours!

I got an e-mail from E.B. over at The Reader's Quill about a super cool, super exclusive playlist from Cassie Clare on their sister site, The Musical Menagerie. There are some awesome songs on it with little blurbs about why they were picked. I haven't listened to it yet (I need to go to bed), but since I'm up now and had time to update, I figured I'd do that. I did, however, read the stuff and it's super awesome.

On another note, I've been telling everyone I know to read "Havemercy" by Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennett, so I'll tell you, too. It was pretty fantastic and it always makes me happy to see Big Name Fans who get published. Also, Jaida Jones is mentioned in CoB when Clary is suggesting girls for Simon to go out with. Just saying.

Bedtime for me. May or may not be an update tomorrow... I have classes and then Twilight at midnight. Though I will probably post a photo somewhere of the amazing t-shirt I made for the occasion. To anyone else who is going at midnight tomorrow, remember this: We could have been seeing Potter. *Facepalm* But Twilight is okay, I guess... I'm just biased. ^.^

November 17, 2008

Guess what! NaNoWriMo owns me. I've been so caught up in trying to reach a decent word count that I've barely been paying attention to the website. And when I wasn't writing for NaNo, I was working on my fanfic, which I can supply chapter eleven of. If you haven't been reading it, all the previous parts are listed in the fanfiction section. That's all I've got for now... For those of you doing NaNo, keep on! We can do it!

November 11, 2008

Happy 11/11! In case you want to put a countdown on your MySpace, forum signature, etc., there is a countdown widget you can get now. It's pretty awesome how it just ticks away the days like that, hm? ^.^

On another note, I got a fanfiction submission today, which can be found in there. It's called "Love On Our Hands" and it's by xLokiFoxx. It's Alec-centric.

In other news, I've got no idea when my counter at the top of the page got off by an hour (darn you, daylight savings!) but I'm trying to fix it. As I'm also trying to get a bunch of other things done that somehow end up never actually getting done. I'm trying! So many papers due this week... Bah. Updates soon!

November 9, 2008

Still working on the fanart section... I'm having some issues, but hopefully they'll be resolved soon ^.^ In the meantime, everyone with a Facebook should go and RSVP to the book release. It's not an actual book release event, just a thing to say that you're going to be getting the book when it's released in March (which isn't as far away as it may seem). It could show up on your page that you RSVP'd and get someone interested in it who wasn't a fan before, or maybe once the event rolls around, people will be like "Hey! What was that thing with the cool cover that Facebook told me you went to?" And then you can explain.

Or just tell them to go out and get City of Bones and find out for themselves. Whatever floats your boat.

November 8, 2008

I'm working on putting up a bunch of fan art, so check back for that in a little while. In the meantime, I'd recommend that anyone who isn't a member of the Google Group goes and joins that. There are some awesome discussions of things (both TMI related and not) and you can talk to other fans. Cassandra Clare posts there pretty frequently, as well. Just today she posted in reply to me and dashed my hopes and dreams. >.<

On another note, I finished chapter nine of my fanfic. If you've been keeping up with it, go check it out... Otherwise, if you're interested in Magnus/Alec, you can check out the first eight parts, which are linked to in fanfiction.

Edit: All the graphics are pretty and organized, but my FTP program is being mean. So while I actually have been working on it, apparently I didn't do something right, because it's not letting me upload it. I'm extremely frustrated... So... Yeah, that'll be up soon, I hope. It's pretty.

November 6, 2008

NOVEMBER COOKIES! Sorry... I usually hate caps as a rule, but I was extremely excited. So go read that right now and I'll go back to writing fanfiction--er--being productive on the website. Yeah. ^.~

Sad news, though. You should take in those two small cookies while you can, because there won't be a December cookie! Instead, CC will be doing a contest to win advance copies of the book starting at the beginning of December and running through Christmas. According to that post on her blog, there will be four copies (one down from last year -.-, ) that will be up for grabs. I, for one, can't wait until the contest starts.

November 6, 2008

Hopefully everyone voted the other day! I, for one, ended up missing my screenwriting class because I went home to vote and ran into some car trouble on my way back. Oh well, I still love my car.

I can't sleep so I'm updating a bit... I've got notecards strewn throughout the books and I'm trying to make sense of my scribbles. I just updated some stuff in Objects&Terms and I'm starting to wonder if I should break it into two sections... Eh. Who knows? Off to do some more!

Edit: Now that I've had some sleep, I'm going through my normal websites and I came across this interview from The Reader's Quill posted by Michelle over at the "Thank You, Cassandra Clare..." Facebook Group. It's pretty awesome, so you should go check it out.

November 2, 2008

I've got some time right now, so I'm doing my sweeps of LiveJournal (No update yet on the Scare-A-Thon) and I realized that (*gasp*) I never joined the Google Group for TMI. So I just did. And one of the first things that caught my eye over there is that the City of Glass tour is going to be kicking off at a Borders in Exton, Pennsylvania on March 24. Cassandra Clare will be there and she'll be signing copies. Apparently there will also be costume contests and stuff. This is only about an hour away from my hometown, so I'll probably be going. Fun times!

Also, right now I'm working on a bunch of the In Depth categories, so if you're checking the website right now (it's almost 2 p.m. EST), check back later and there will be some cool things in there. No, seriously. I'm not lying this time ;).

Edit:: Updates over in Characters, Places, and Objects & Terms. More to come. I had wanted to put up the fanart, but my other computer is being mean, so that'll come another time.

October 28, 2008

It's almost Halloween! I don't know about any of you, but I love Halloween. If you're going to be dressing up as any of the characters this year, send me a picture and I'll put it up! Just attach a JPG (or some other photo format) in an e-mail to Submissions@MundieSource.Net, even if you're just dressing your dog up as a Ravener or something.

In other news, Cassandra Clare is getting into the Halloween spirit (while in France promoting CoB, of course) and accepting a challenge that was issued to her. She has to scare herself and overcome the fear. She posted on LiveJournal with some of her options and is taking advice and votes for which one she should actually do.

October 24, 2008

I'm such a slacker. I sat down to work on the website and ended up spending three hours writing the next chapter to my fanfic, "When You Say Forever." If you're interested (it's Magnus/Alec, PG-13) and haven't read it yet, the previous chapters are listed in FanFiction. At least I was productive with something, right? >.<

October 22, 2008

Just a quick update to say that I love countdowns. If the countdown at the top of the page doesn't show up or looks funny to you, please let me know (Ashley@MundieSource.Net) so that I can fix it ASAP! Toodles!

Update: So I updated earlier around 2 a.m. Now it's morning (yay?) and I'm doing my daily sweep through my LiveJournal friend's page. Cassandra Clare snuck in an update yesterday after my sweep. She talks about a trip she's going on to France where they are releasing the French version of City of Bones. About the release she says "I am very excited about this because this is the first foreign release of one of my books that I can actually read. Albeit with a dictionary by my side." I, for one, would be more likely to make it through the German translation.

In the same entry, she mentions that City of Bones was listed in the American Library Association's Top Ten books voted on by teens. The list of all can be found here. At the top of the list was Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer, surprisingly overtaking Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. City of Bones took sixth place.

October 18, 2008

Pretty new layout! Weee! Also, I updated two broken links that I found, put up a picture of the old layout over in About Mundie Source, did a bunch more character descriptions, and just started fixing up some of the fanart I've been given permission to put up, so that's something to look forward to! This layout was inspired by, well, I have no idea. I just wanted something blue. I also used different people from my usual suspects for Clary and Luke because I couldn't find fitting pictures for either of them... So I used Emma Roberts (Nancy Drew) and Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls) instead. --Ashley

October 16, 2008

For anyone who doesn't stalk her LiveJournal--er, read enthusiastically--Cassandra Clare updated today with an answer to some questions about how she finds inspiration to write, etc. Go read it, it's pretty cool. Who doesn't want to pick at a best-selling author's brain? I know I do. --Ashley

PS: I noticed that the coloration of the website looks much better on my MacBook as compared to my iMac. Hm. And if anyone is here using Internet Explorer on Windows or something different which results in a funky looking website, please let me know at Ashley@MundieSource.Net... I don't want it to look funky unless it's my actual intention (which it's not right now, thanks). Toodles!

October 12, 2008

I updated the About TMI page with links to the chapter titles and all the cookies from June to October for City of Glass. I also put up a new fanfic over in fanfiction called "The Bet," which came about when I was supposed to be working on other things for the site, but I'm kind of easily distracted.

I'm currently working on a few more names, character descriptions, and some more quotes from CoB. Check back tomorrow :) --Ashley

October 10, 2008

I just put up a bunch of names over under "In Depth." I had a lot of fun researching them, so check it out (I'm a total dork). I'm also working on a bunch of other things tonight, since I'm not in a homework kind of mood. So... I'll probably be adding more to this update later. --Ashley

8:12 p.m.: It's been about an hour and since my last update, I have put up a bunch of new icons and banners. The page has a lot of graphics (I'll eventually come up with a more efficient way of compiling them), so it may take a moment to load, depending on your internet speed. Remember to give credit where credit is due if you use anything. Saying they're yours just isn't nice! Also, the seventh chapter of When You Say Forever is listed in Fanfiction (and linked to right over there...). More updates soon!

October 9, 2008

Cassandra Clare updated her LiveJournal today with an illustration depicting a scene from her next endeavor, The Infernal Devices, which takes place long before The Mortal Instruments. Along with the illustration is a brief excerpt from the first book, The Clockwork Princess. There's a familiar character in it ;) It kind of made me laugh really hard for my own reasons (If you're reading the fanfic "When You Say Forever," you may see why).

On another note, she also says that she'll be doing a contest similar to the one she did last year. If you're not familiar with it, last year she had a contest in the winter (She says this year it'll be in December) where she gave away a few advance copies of the book. I'll probably sell my soul to Valentine in an attempt to win one, so... I'll try to work it out so that I can keep updating the website after he owns me.

On yet another note, I've got a bunch of icons that will be going up soon and then I'm going to grin and bear it to try to get some of the more in-depth stuff done. So much for my break from TMI, I guess! --Ashley

October 8, 2008

Hello hello! Updated the fanfiction with part six (Six!) of "When You Say Forever." Check it out, leave comments, etc. Also, I'll be updating in the next few days with some super cool icons. I'm just kind of TMI'd out because I've been spending so much time with CoB for a class (I'm doing a super-cool project on it, but Lordy, I've read the first hundred pages so many times). I'm going to take a brief break from going through the books which will mean that I'll probably be writing things from memory for a few days before I update anything intense. -Ashley
