Creatures

Creatures are listed alphabetically. This page will be continuously updated until further notice.

Agramon: The Greater Demon that kills the warlock in the prologue of City of Ashes and later assists Valentine in killing the other Downworlder children. It is the demon of fear and takes the form of whatever you are most afraid of in order to drive you mad.

Abbadon: Describes itself as “The Demon of the Abyss.” It is the Greater Demon that attacks from Madame Dorothea's trying to get the Mortal Cup. It is killed, in part, by Simon because it cannot be exposed to sunlight and Simon shoots out the skylight.

Boy With Blue Hair: (For lack of a better name) The shape-shifter demon Clary sees in Pandemonium. We are never told exactly what kind of demon he is, but we know that he has several rows of teeth, as mentioned when he grinds his teeth, and that his hands are claw-like when he fights Jace.

Church: A blue Persian cat who lives in the Institute. Church is most often a kind of "tour guide" and takes people where they need to go within the Institute, though he tends to be partial to the kitchen, since Isabelle will feed him since he is the only creature that eats her cooking. Jace comments that Church is pudgy because of this.

Dragons: Usually described as large, scaly, and possessing the ability to breathe fire. Jace says that they're mostly extinct in a conversation with Simon in CoB.

Elves: Generally about eight inches tall. They bite.

Faeries: “The Fair Folk.” Immortal cross-breeds of demons and angels. Jace states in CoA that he thinks the story of the Fey being angels cast from Heaven for their pride is more likely. They cannot lie but enjoy “creative truth-telling.” The entrance to their Court is in Central Park.

Forsaken: A mundane who has been Marked but survived the pain and lost his or her mind, thus becoming a deformed and evil monster. Valentine has an army of Forsaken in CoB. The existence of Forsaken is against the Covenant.

Ravener: A demon that has a body like an overly-scaly alligator, many legs, and a thick barbed tail. Ravener's can speak and, from our experiences with them, generally do so in broken sentences. They are generally search-and-destroy creatures under the control of powerful warlocks or demons.

Vampires: “The Night Children.” Blood-sucking creatures who can only roam after the sun has set. If a vampire goes out in the sunlight they will be charred to ash. Mortal enemies of the werewolves.

Warlocks: "Lilith's Children." Warlocks are half-human and half-demon. They have magic powers with no actual source, though their powers can be depleted, as seen in CoA when Magnus helps keep the truck afloat.

Werewolves: “Children of the Moon.” Living beings who are cursed with Lycanthropy, a disease which turns them into werewolves on the night of the full moon.
