Jace’s Letter to Clary

Goodness, it’s been a while since I’ve had a moment to post something here! Being a grown up is not as fun as people make you think it is. What? They don’t make you think it’s fun? Oh. Right.

Anywho, Jace’s letter to Clary, which was previously only available in copies of the book from Barnes and Noble, is now available on the internet via Cassie Clare’s website. Or you can just click on the image to the right and make it bigger. Apparently the traffic from the letter crashed Cassie’s website yesterday. Good job, everyone ;)

Jace proves to be quite the romantic fellow in this letter, but it’s quite heartbreaking at the same time. If you don’t already know, it’s about Clary receiving the Morgenstern ring from Jace, who is pretty sure he’s going to die and doesn’t want the ring to be lost forever–and since he still thinks she’s his sister, the ring is rightfully hers. Here’s a bit:

I belong to you. You could do anything you wanted with me and I would let you. You could ask anything you wanted of me and I’d break myself trying to make you happy. My heart tells me this is the best and greatest feeling I have ever had. But my heart knows the difference between wanting what you can’t have and wanting what you shouldn’t want. And I shouldn’t want you.

Thoughts?
